The recession now in our midst needs new approaches and ideas to recover from it, and get the world economy moving again. A hard look by the experts on this financial phenomenon now may make them realize that a long-term solution is the only alternative the world must launch in order to make the change lasting.
Business decisions before the onset of the current recession to manufacture so many cars, build so many homes to for sale on installments to prospective buyers, and so forth and so on, may have been erroneous. How did businesspersons come up with the figures on how many cars to make and so many housing units to build? What kind of statistics were they using? Do they really know the actual buying power of people?
Maybe it is now time to look at worldwide statistics seriously. The world’s population is something like six billion plus. Of this figure, good if half have the necessary purchasing power. Many in the world are still very poor. It is now time to tackle with seriousness the problems of the poor, for us to do something to enable them to start getting some decent income.
Would the financial planners and people in business be willing to think out of the box now? They should realize that efforts to lift world market figures to a new level, should entail the creation of thousands, even millions, of jobs in massive agricultural projects in the whole world to avoid the specter of famines and starvation due to the feared food shortages coming up, brought about by the global warming phenomenon.
On the other hand, would these financial experts need some kind of re-education to make them wake up to the seriousness of the global problems?
This is one area where the software industry must get actively involved; they should create now new kids math software to present these new strategies to the world’s economic and business leaders.
Of what use anyway is the money of the rich now sleeping in the vaults if this not utilized to create more markets for the many goods churn out by the factories and wrongly targeted for sale at a non-existent world market? We should correct this error, and the solution is in the creation of the jobs for the world’s masses whose skills are only in the agricultural sector.
However unskilled the masses are, if they can just contribute their strength in the tilling and cultivation of the soil and help in food-production, humanity can benefit much from them. In turn, the non-revenue poor now will begin to have the money in their hands, and start buying things and becoming part of a new and bigger world market that certainly will move the world economy again to the vibrancy of the years past.
Even if this were the only contribution the software people can make – the re-education of the business and economic leaders on this new approach, they would have already done the world so much good.
