The kids now spend so much of their time idly sitting before computers (and most of the time munching on unhealthy junk food) playing so many games, either offline or online. The online games that they play take up more of their time, especially when they play with kids from other time zones. These long hours of staring into the computer monitors have somehow started to affect the eyesight of some children who have varied complaints, like headaches and the feeling of wanting to vomit, a condition suspected to be connected with problems of the eyes.
Software companies must come up with provisions in their software to advise the kids to limit their hours with the computer so their health may not be affected adversely. These provisions might be in the form of time limitations on the duration of the games, coupled with regular admonitions on the kids to stay healthy by taking frequent breaks from their Internet games.
Moms will of course have the primary concern for their kids and must regularly supervise their computer hours to ensure they do not stay too long before the glaring monitors. It is best that the mothers also see what is inside the games and be familiar with what the kids are reading or listening to so they can jive their advice to the kids with what they are exposed to in the games.
The moms and the kids must be on the same level of understanding, especially now when the language in some games could be sounding Greek to moms not familiar with them. The kids can be so impatient sometimes when some adults cannot catch up on the new lingo they are using that they get from the Internet and from the games that they play.
Some moms may just be too unlucky encountering some Japanese sounding word that the kids use which only they seem to understand. It can even be a funny scene when a kid insists on talking to the mom in Nippongo language, and the mom raising her arms in surrender, blaming Bill Gates for all these strange things her little kid is learning.
There is therefore an important need for the mom who is left at home most hours of the day with the kids to work out some schedules for the children so they will be away from the computers. Mom should go back to driving the kids out to the yard for some outdoor games where they can forget for sometime the Educational Reading Software.
With the health problems that the children are beginning to suffer, the physical games outdoors is now more necessary for the kids. These games should reinforce the warnings and the admonitions in the kids’ software to take breaks from their computer
games and rest and relax their eyes to avoid any malady that might develop. If the kids engage in outdoor games during the breaks and work out a good sweat running around in the yard, so much the better for them and for their health.
